Weak Lensing Analysis of the z ≃ 0 . 8 cluster CL 0152 - 1357 with the Advanced Camera for Surveys
We present a weak lensing analysis of the X-ray luminous cluster CL 0152-1357 at z ≃ 0.84 using HST/ACS observations. The unparalleled resolution and sensitivity of ACS enable us to measure weakly distorted, faint background galaxies to the extent that the number density reaches ∼ 175 arcmin −2. The PSF of ACS has a complicated shape that also varies across the field. We construct a PSF model f...
متن کاملStatus of the Advanced Camera for Surveys
The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS), installed in the Hubble Space Telescope in March 2002, will significantly extend HST ’s deep, survey imaging capabilities. ACS has met, or exceeded all of its key performance specifications. In this paper we present an introductory review of the in-flight performance of the instrument.
متن کاملSlitless Spectroscopy with the Advanced Camera for Surveys
The Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) enables slitless, low-resolution spectroscopic imaging in its three channels. The most-used modes are grism imaging with the WFC and the HRC at a resolution of 40 and 24 Å/pixel, respectively. In the far-UV there are two prisms for the SBC and one prism for the HRC in the near-UV. An overview of the slitless spectroscopic modes of the ACS is presented toget...
متن کاملStellar Cluster Fiducial Sequences with the Advanced Camera for Surveys1
We present color-magnitude diagrams of five Galactic globular clusters and one Galactic open cluster spanning a wide range of metallicity (−2.1 ∼ < [Fe/H] ∼ < +0.3), as observed in the F606W (broad V ) and F814W (I) bands with the Advanced Camera for Surveys (ACS) on the Hubble Space Telescope. These clusters are part of two large ACS programs measuring the star formation history in the Androme...
متن کاملOverview of the Advanced Camera for Surveys On-orbit Performance
We present an overview of the ACS on-orbit performance based on the calibration observations taken during the first three months of ACS operations. The ACS meets or exceeds all of its important performance specifications. The WFC and HRC FWHM and 50% encircled energy diameters at 555 nm are 0.088′′ and 0.14′′, and 0.050′′ and 0.10′′. The average rms WFC and HRC read noises are 5.0 e and 4.7 e. ...
